I am Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations at University College Dublin. I received my PhD in political science at the University of Washington, and my main research field is the comparative political economy of welfare state development.

I served as Chair of the Executive Committee of the Council for European Studies from 2022 to June 2024.

I have held positions in political science, social policy, and public administration at universities in the Netherlands (Twente, Leiden, Radboud) and the UK (Southampton).
